Abstract:

This study was conducted on behalf of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to assess the attitudes and perceptions of outdoor sportsmen and sportswomen (hereinafter, any reference to ‘sportsmen’ is in a gender-neutral sense) toward various messages encouraging participation in the STEP OUTSIDE® program. The study entailed three focus groups and a telephone survey to assess the motivations for and constraints against participation in the STEP OUTSIDE® program by known hunters, anglers, gun shooters, and archers.
