Abstract:

Each year, millions of Americans participate in the shooting sports, including hunting, target shooting, archery, bowhunting, sporting clays, and trap/skeet shooting. While major percentages of participants in each of these activities are male, females comprise an important and, in some instances, growing segment of shooting sports participants. This report presents an overview of women’s participation in these shooting sports, and includes participation numbers, participation trends, activity levels, motivations, dissatisfactions, expenditures, and demographic information of women in the shooting sports.
